Ma...I am in good company at the CAC show with you. Marian you asked what I didn't like about the painting, "Lone Home". From a technical point the main mountain is to centered in the composition. The buildings are a bit two small. I should have placed the trees around and behind the roofs so that there would be a value/color jump between the two. The sky was wishy washy, not enough value in the air, and not enough structure in the clouds. And I should have planned some sort of foreground rather then depending on color and brush strokes. Maybe it's just me, but I felt much better after scraping and still do. Thank you for making me think about the decision, it's all interesting.Laura Wambsganshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02888637315167234291noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33927093.post-31999713151822923182008-05-16T05:53:00.000-07:002008-05-16T05:53:00.000-07:00Okay...Now I'm curious.. Why did YOU think (because it looked good to me) it was bad enough to scrape down and start over rather than tweaking the values or something else?
This looks like a place Sharon and I passed when we were driving to the poppy fields in Antelope Valley... although the mountains are more prominent.
Congratulations on getting in to the CAC show!!Marian Fortunatihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11107085447074524162noreply@blogger.com
