"San Simeon Seals" ©

I have been painting a large piece for 2 days now. I just can't bring myself to take it down off of the easel and paint a small daily painting, just yet. Today for your pleasure I am posting a section of a painting that is hanging in my dining room that I painted previously. These seals stack against each other, basking in the sun up the coast, near San Simeon. Every time we go camping we stop just to watch their antics, guaranteed to bring a smile to everyone.

Oil on Canvas, 36" X 36"

Oh, the seals are amazing to watch. The males fake fight with one another, pushing their chests into each other. The females wake for a moment flip sand onto themselves with their flippers and drift off to sleep again. You are so right they are very amusing. We are fortunate to be able to watch them on their beach.

this is lovely, I really like the abstract shapes and colours - and then you've caught the character of the seals beautifully :)

lovely work

Awesome drawing too. If you hadn't told us, this could be the whole painting. Seals are great!

I agree with Mary. This is a painting all by itself. Just fabulous -- a different view of your artistic talent.
