"Oak Glen Canyon" ©

The path heads to an apple orchard, just ready to blossom. Homesteaded decades ago the inhabitants long gone but the orchard continues it's life cycle, a testament to the lives long gone.

Lovely... I'd love to talk with you some day about what you learn from these small studio studies and how you use them when you do a larger painting.

Lovely study! Your colors are beautiful and I like your composition. I feel like I could just walk into your painting.

Can't believe this canvas is a 5x7, do you use tiny brushes? Do you go back to the same location several days ? Joy

Thank you everyone for the nice comments. Anytime you want to talk "going larger from a study" I would love to Marian. The main thing I can tell you is that any issues in the small painting will be huge monsters in the large painting. So you really have to solve everything or at least find your way. In this little study I would move the road, forget the apple orchard and play up the distance. Also yes, I did go back to the same spot while in Arizona but not working on the same painting. Brush size, I guess my smallest that I use with any regularity is a 6. But usually I am working with a 10 or bigger. Good questions!
