November in California. What could be better then cold vanilla ice cream to top off a day at the beach?

Laura - I'm afraid I don't understand - how can you copyright a name like "Ice Cream"? (which is what your title suggests)

How about a couple of alternative - putting your copyright notice under the painting which it relates to or inserted into the image itself?

Hi Katherine,
Thank you for your thoughtful comment. In the U.S. artwork is copyright protected purely by being created. I have added the symbol after my titles as an alert to folks that may not be aware of the etiquette of “borrowing” from artists. Placing the symbol after the title is for continuity, in the galleries that I exhibit the © is always displayed after the title of the artwork on the identification card. Just between you and I, many of my paintings are registered with the Library of Congress. Laura
