"Storm Clouds" ©

Wetcanvas.com offers a reference library for artists. An image from that library was the inspiration for this little warm up (before painting on the ducks) today. It's my "rain dance", maybe my focused exercise painting storm clouds will bring rain to our burning lands.

All of your posts lately have been really nice but these storm clouds are gorgeous -

Beautiful, Laura..
Did you do this on one of those little slippery boards?? I tried one and didn't like it... preferring the tooth of cloth. Perhaps I'll try again but I'll cover it with some acrylic first to improve the DRAG.

I really like the colors you've gotten here... So fluffy and .... cloudlike.

Thank you Cara very much, I am somewhat distracted with the duck painting and am learning how to leap from one to another.

Yes Marian, this is on one of those "slippery boards", actually called art boards, available at Dick Blick. Most artists recoil at working on these. I just love mixing the paint on the board rather then the palette. A coat of soft body acrylic, that has dried will help with the loss of drag, so you are right on with that idea. You have had such great success lately on canvas, who needs "slippery boards". I get such a thrill when I know the winning artists, keep it up!

This is a wonderful study in color with so much fire. Oh, I guess shouldn't say that with this last weekend. I just read your workshop blogs and it sounds as if you had a great time. His seems a generous teacher with a lot of insight.

Sharon you would have a great time in a Cosby workshop. He is a very generous teacher, yet fun and passionate about painting without having to mention it. I have loved seeing your Italy photographs, what a trip of a lifetime. I am just thrilled for you and Jeff. Keep them coming!
