Small daily oil paintings, painted in a plein air impressionistic style on stretched canvas or canvas board created and posted regularly. 2012 update: After 6 years, the postings now include larger paintings along with the small works. My goal is to reach 1,000 paintings posted by the end of this year. 2013 update: The original goal was met and exceeded, from now on I will post paintings that are successful or might be of interest.

"Pine Tree Overlook"
10" X 10" panels are perfect for the landscapes of Idaho. Room to play up the mountains or sky, which ever is more exciting at the moment.
This morning heading out to paint, I had my creature adventure of the day with 3 horses wandering down the road. You can see them in the photo below. I knew that it was not a good situation, pulled over and took them home.

I was captivated by the back ground mountains in the picture of the loose Horses. In broad day light they have only two colors, muted greys and blues,no little washes shown no,no massive rocky ridges, just two low colors.I think I would have got out with equipment and tried to capture the road, meadow, trees and back ground the canvas with those muted mountain colors. What a sight.JOHN
Your right John, the lighting in this valley effects each view and sometimes only lasts a few minutes. Tonight the valley turned gold, as the sun was setting behind the mountain. Even the cows glowed gold!
Do you mean you took the 3 horses back to their owner? I don't see any halters on them. What a horse woman you are!
Oh Dyane, my daughter is the horse woman in our family but I have learned a enough to know that these 3 shouldn't be wandering down the highway and how to figure out who the leader was and take charge. A few years ago I wouldn't have had a clue and been scared when they started running. Big thank you to Julie and Cassie!
Your days have been filled with beautiful scenery, hard work, lots and lots of learning and so very many critters!!!
I picked up your paintings today, Laura. May study them to see if I can ever approach how you create such beauty!
Wonderful painting and fun story.
Was the leader the big white one with that determined look? Did you just grab it by the halter and lead it back? I'll bet there's a good story behind this one.
Yes Karen, that was the ring leader, bobbing head and all. They were to slick to let me get a hand on them but responded to body language. I had show them that their antics wouldn't fly. Thank goodness for Jessie.
