Small daily oil paintings, painted in a plein air impressionistic style on stretched canvas or canvas board created and posted regularly. 2012 update: After 6 years, the postings now include larger paintings along with the small works. My goal is to reach 1,000 paintings posted by the end of this year. 2013 update: The original goal was met and exceeded, from now on I will post paintings that are successful or might be of interest.

"Smoke Veiled Sunset" ©
The "Day Fire" is still burning, 41% contained, 140,000. acres charred. The odd coloring to the landscape and sky engage and lock your eyes and yet you know in your heart that thousands of wild animals are frightened, fleeing for their lives. I wanted to paint it and yet hesitated at first. Once I got into the work the beauty erased all trepidation.

As a local, I can confirm that you've absolutely nailed this... the sky is exactly that color, and despite the sad event cloaking the region, there is an eery beauty to it all. Wonderful little homage painting.
Lovely warm color... a stunner.
