Small daily oil paintings, painted in a plein air impressionistic style on stretched canvas or canvas board created and posted regularly. 2012 update: After 6 years, the postings now include larger paintings along with the small works. My goal is to reach 1,000 paintings posted by the end of this year. 2013 update: The original goal was met and exceeded, from now on I will post paintings that are successful or might be of interest.

"The Wave" ©
Arriving in Carlsbad 2 hours early, I drove to the ocean, grabbed my Pochade box and headed down the steps to the sand. The day was flat, monochromatic blues, the suns rays unable to reach the sea. I decided to paint a portrait of a wave. I think I spent most of my time watching the waves rolling in to "see" at what point do the values change, where are the shadows and how does the water move? When I was walking back to my truck it occurred to me that I hadn't watched the water so closely since my surfing days, long ago. The sea has my heart.
