"Devil's Punch Bowl" ©

Yesterday Lorelle Miller and I presented "Chasing Open Spaces" an artistic project where artists are historically documenting the SCV's rural areas on a panel for the Antelope Valley Conservancy. Afterwards we hit the road and drove to St. Andrews Abbey in the desert, looking for a spot to paint, we weren't inspired and drove on to Devil's Punch Bowl and wow wee, we found our views. Other then some excitement with a rattler, we finished off the day painting and enjoying the sun setting behind a large Joshua tree forest.
Oil on Panel, 12" X 9"

Looks like loads of fun... I LOVE that yucca in the painting and the deep shadow... Can't see it all too well, but this one's a winner for sure!!
How FAR IS that anyway???

Hi Marian, It's not too far from Santa Clarita, about an hour. If you go be sure and take a buddy. We witnessed a bit of crime and a huge rattle snake very close, too close. It's time to paint Yucca, the Tujunga wash off the 210 near Hansen Dam is full of Yucca's. If you want to go Yucca hunting let me know. :)
