"Patiently Waiting" ©

Still adding to my inventory of "animal" paintings, today I painted this little guy. First spotting him on 2nd St. in Long Beach, he was waiting for his family to finish up dining at a sidewalk cafe. His name is "Fatty", there must be a story behind the name because he couldn't weight more then a few pounds.

"Sharing The Sheets II" ©

Last year I painted a small 6" X 8" canvas of "Sharing The Sheets", our beloved dog, Lucky in bed waiting for us. Missing him I revisited the image and painted a 18" X 24" canvas, using the larger surface to really explore the sheets and fur. I loved every stroke.

Just an update, I am still painting large canvases furiously for my show at Segil's gallery in November, exploring painting on copper and preparing for a plein air painting trip to Maine in 12 days. My blogging has been on hold, selfishly I have been sticking to the easel and not the computer. I have missed blogging and yet felt relief from the commitment. I'll be back in full gear blogging when I arrive home in mid-September. Thanks and appreciation to everyone that checked up on my absence.

"One Ear Up" ©

Once a Shepard owned our family, Sadie. As a pup one day one ear popped up, a few weeks later, the other followed suit. When I saw the same changes going on as Kila was growing, memories of Sadie came flooding back.

"Peanut"

Peanut has a complete wardrobe. He is wearing his red hoodie sweater on a windy day at the beach in this painting. Actually I have never met Peanut but his Mom loves him dearly and sent me a photo to paint from. He sure is adorable.

"One Wet Dog" ©

His best friend is a Lab named Tibbs. Hank was retrieving a tennis ball as many times as it was thrown on Limekiln Beach. Painting wet fur and a hint of wet sand as background was a new challenge for me.

"Sharing Sheets" ©

Eight O'clock, Lucky went to bed, regardless of the activity in the household. He preferred not to be disturbed and in his own subtle way let you know. But as my time to hit the sheets arrived I would stand by the bedside, look at him snoozing and with regret say "OK buddy, my turn". Lucky would slowly lift up and off the bed with a thud, tail down, head down and mosey off to his second choice spot. He never asked and I didn't mind "Sharing Sheets". Still missing you, buddy.....

My apologies for the sparkly (white dots) photo, I shot this outside in the sunlight.

"Corgi" ©

This little Corgi has the largest ears you can imagine. He is a ranch dog and is willing to let me pet him as long as I would like. He will also fetch a stick just so that I can keep throwing it. His eyes speak volumes.
