"Riverbed Jewels" @

Hard to believe this view is just off a major road, with hundreds of cars whizzing by daily. I wanted to try out an idea for this painting to see if it would work on a larger canvas. I think with some minor adjustments it might be nice.
Oil on panel, 5" X 7"

Laura,

I like it too... I am curious about what you might "adjust" to make the painting larger.

Thanks for the comments. Good question Marion. On a 5" X 7" just a suggestion is enough information for the viewer to put together in their minds what I am attempting to portray, going larger a suggestion is lost. So every area will need to be developed, particularly more structure (limbs and trunks) in the bushes and trees. Also any weakness in a small painting becomes glaringly apparent when enlarged, so I'll check the balance of the shapes left to right, top to bottom, even turning the larger painting in it's sketching stage upside down to be sure the finished piece will be pleasing to the eye. In the larger painting I look forward to adding scruffy details in the foreground too. One last comment, I would plan the clouds in the sky to support the pattern of light in the painting. At least that is the start of my thinking. Again good question and I appreciate the chance to put my thoughts in writing. Laura
